Calendars should already be marked for the 2009 Jus` Blues Music Awards, August 5th-8th on Beale Street in downtown Memphis, Tennessee. The Jus` Blues Music Awards is a unique entertainment event that attracts Blues & Southern Soul music artists, industry professionals and fans from across the globe. It is credited with being one of the most important Award Shows in Blues & Southern Soul music for African-American performers.
Wednesday, August 5th is The Night of the Living Legends Tribute and Celebration. This special event is a formal dinner with entertainment at The Historical Daisy Theater in celebration of the 2009 Jus` Blues Music Awards Honorees. Some of the honorees include Solomon Burke, Shirley Brown, Otis Clay, Dorothy Moore, Clarence Carter, Lonnie Brooks and more. Previous tributes have included the late great Lowell Fulson, Willie Mitchell, The BarKays, Maxine Brown, Joe Simon, Al Bell, Millie Jackson, Bobby Rush and a host of Blues & Soul music legends.
The afternoon of Thursday August 6th the Jus` Blues Music Foundation presents Technology Conference ’09. This is a must-attend event for music technology professionals and artists interested in promoting, marketing and driving sales via new technology. Attendees will get hands on with the movers and shakers of the music business and technology worlds, as well as interact with like others in a great environment.
Additionally, a panel discussion featuring music industry and technology experts like hop-hop legend and Public Enemy founder Chuck D, Blues & Soul legend Bobby Rush and others will open discuss and conduct a Q & A regarding using the Internet to expose new music projects, imaging and driving sales, along with a focus on the evolving musical experience. Topics will focus on marketing, fan behavior, trends, future forecasts and an examination of the ways people discover, purchase, interact with and are exposed to music.
Thursday night August 6th is the 2009 Jus` Blues Music Awards. The Historical Daisy Theater will host the 9th annual event featuring very special tributes, awards and performances acknowledging the accomplishments of some of the brightest artists and industry professionals in the genre of Blues & Southern Soul music from popular votes from the www.jusbluesmusicfoundation.org website.
Other festivities included are the Juke Joint After Party, House of Blues Friday Fish Fry, the Jus` Blues Club Crawl on Beale Friday night and the Jus` Blues Music Festival in W.C. Handy Park on Saturday, August 8th.
