Nashville, TN — Mark Wayne Glasmire’s golden voice shines on his latest country single, “You Opened My Eyes,” due on radio programmers’ desks this week via CDX Vol. #497. The powerful ballad is a tribute to the eye-opening aspects of love, and Mark’s voice floats over a rich, acoustic track that is moving in its simplicity.

Glasmire is in the midst of his EYES WIDE OPEN Radio Tour promoting the single, and is celebrating his status as one of three finalists in the prestigious 18th Annual Chris Austin Songwriting Contest Country category, hosted by MerleFest 2010. “It’s a huge honor for me,” says the soft-spoken Pennsylvania native. “To make the finals out of a thousand-plus entries is truly meaningful.” The talented songwriter also just received word that he is a Top 10 finalist in the Wildflower Songwriting Contest; winners of that competition will be announced on May 15.

Mark has sung his way from the New York City folk scene of the ’80s to Nashville’s storied songwriter rounds and beyond. He’s won a number of songwriting competitions, including 2009’s GINA/LAWIM Songwriting Competition-Los Angeles, CA and the 2008 Dallas Songwriter’s Assoc. Songwriting Contest, Dallas. He now resides in Arlington, Texas and continues to tour, performing at both Festivals and intimate venues.
