Shakori Hills Grassroots Festival NC- this weekend!! Rusted Root, Bela Fleck, Sol & Funk Root

Shakori Hills Grassroots Festival is coming up again THIS WEEKEND !! Shakori Hills features some of the best in national, regional, and local NC music! 4 days of music on 4 stages in the relaxed countryside of North Carolina!! (in Pittsboro/ Silk Hope –  between Greensboro and Raleigh/Durham)

Again it will be a wonderful mix of funk, blues, folk, bluegrass, zydeco, hip hop, latin, african, rock, jam, and more!

On the bill this spring are Rusted Root, Bela Fleck, Hobex, Sim Redmond Band, Rosie Ledet, Sol & Funk Root, Holy Ghost Tent Revival, Donna and the Buffalo, Music Maker Revue, Sol Driven Train, Bowerbirds, Orquesta GarDel, The Beast, Greg Humphreys, Chiwonsio, Hackensaw Boys, Inflowential, and many more!!!

Sol & Funk Root will be performing Friday night with members of the Dynamite Brothers (super funky players whose music was recently featured on HBO show “Eastbound and Down”). Sol has performed as part of the “Dynamite Family Band” for years. Here’s a write up of the Friday night set: ” Sol creates a blend of southern fried rock, deep soul, and way back yonder funk. Sol has toured the world with many pioneers of roots and blues, and transports his backbone of musical roots forward to present day, conjuring up tasty original tunes. Sol’s rhythm section features members of North Carolina’s infamous Dynamite Brothers, who lay down grooves so nasty they will ’bout drive you crazy. Add a soulful side of horns by maestro Tim Smith, and Sol & Funk Root cook up some bluesy greasy jams! ”

Also Music Maker Revue will be performing Saturday for your fix of old school blues, r&b, and hendrix type blues! Featured will be Cool John Ferguson, Captain Luke, Big Ron Hunter, Tim Duffy, Sol, and Bubba Norwood (drummer with Albert King, Ike Turner). www.musicmaker.org

Hobex (and Dillon Fence) front man and wonderful guitarist and songwriter Greg Humpherys will be performing a songwriter set at Shakori Hills, with his own tunes as well and featuring master percussionist Robert Cantrell, deep lyricist Shirlette Ammons (Mosadi Music), Sol, members of Big Fat Gap, and more!!

Hope to see you there!! lots of great music happening for music lovers of all styles!!
