Magic Slim #1 on Blues Chart!

Raising The Bar, the new release from Magic Slim and the Teardrops, is #1 on the Blues Chart compiled by the Roots Music Report, based on the number of radio spins the album is receiving.

When it comes to complete mastery of the blues, Magic Slim has few if any equals on the scene today.  Considered a “national treasure” by blues experts, he is perhaps the greatest living proponent of the intense, electrified, Mississippi-to-Chicago blues style that has spawned so much of the music by modern blues artists and rock ‘n’ rollers.
Slim and his band have set the benchmark for authentic blues excellence and their new CD sets the standards even higher.  As AllMusic commented, “This is not news for the blues community who are well aware of how great Magic Slim & the Teardrops have always been, but in light of them just getting better and better, someone in Chicago should build a monument to this group for their determination, and the ability to do the city proud worldwide.  Raising The Bar is yet another excellent effort made by blue-collar workers, deserving of universally wide recognition, and comes highly recommended without a doubt.”
No Depression added, “Veteran blues man extraordinaire Magic Slim has not missed a beat, skipped a bar, omitted a lick, nor released a bad record in…ever!  His latest is no exception.   This is a record any blues aficionado should have in their library.  However, this is also a record anyone with an ear or great music will immensely enjoy!”
