ST. PAUL, MN — Red House Records is pleased to announce the inaugural MN Songwriter Spotlight, a local showcase kicking off Red House Barnfest, the label’s 2nd annual festival in Red Wing, MN on Saturday, August 7th. The 2010 MN Songwriter Spotlight will feature live performances by two of the label’s favorite local songwriters–Brianna Lane and Erik Koskinen.
St. Paul’s Erik Koskinen has been sideman to Americana darlings Randy Weeks and Ray Bonneville, and was seen at last year’s Red House festival playing with Molly Maher & Her Disbelievers. He returns to this year’s Barnfest, supporting his new album Keep It To Yourself.
Rock writer Jim Walsh calls Minneapolis songwriter Brianna Lane “a star in the making…a soul-singer of the first order.” She has recorded several lauded albums, done countless cross-country tours and has shared the stage with such artists as Billy Bragg, Gillian Welch & David Rawlings and Dar Williams.
At Red House Barnfest, Brianna Lane and Erik Koskinen will be joining an all-star line-up that includes local West Bank legend Spider John Koerner, Billboard-charting duo Storyhill and multi-instrumentalist Ruth Moody of The Wailin’ Jennys.
