Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin Says ‘Rumors,’ of Pancreatic Cancer False

Tells Wendy Williams in Talking About R Kelly, “If He Isn’t Careful (Aretha) might become a “cougar””

The Queen of Soul is holding media court this week, making the rounds dispelling “rumors” about her health and setting the record straight.

Franklin was on “The Wendy Williams Show” this week talking about the state of her health. About R Kelly, she said “if he wasn’t careful, she (Aretha) might become a “cougar”; and revealed that Halle Berry will indeed be playing her in an upcoming biopic.

“For the last four years we’ve been talking about that. Now we have something on the table,” Franklin said. “Halle Berry is me.”

Aretha Franklin told “Access Hollywood” hostess (and fellow Detroit native) Shaun Robinson that she did have a health scare, but not pancreatic cancer. She also told Robinson that she received a get-well note from President Obama,

Access Hollywood, January 13: “I really just began to not feel good and I said, ‘Oh, no this is it, I can’t do any more concerts till I know what the problem is,’” she added. The “Freedom” chanteuse shot down rampart reports that she had been stricken with pancreatic cancer, saying, “I don’t know where ‘pancreatic cancer’ came from. “I was sitting there reading the newspaper and it was saying someone in my family said that,” Aretha continued. “No one in my family ever said that to anybody.”

Last week, Franklin told Jet magazine that her health “problem has been resolved,” and again did not mention pancreatic cancer in the interview.
