Tom Waits to Release Poetry Book To Raise Funds For The Homeless

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame-bound singer TOM WAITS is releasing a poetry book to raise funds for California homeless charities.

The limited edition book, Seeds On Hard Ground, will only be available via the Downtown Train crooner’s website.

He hopes the publication will help to raise funds for homeless services in his region and to “bring attention to a growing problem in today’s hard times”.

The book will be available from February 22 2011. Only 1,000 copies will be released.

Seeds On Hard Ground was inspired by Michael O’Brien’s photographic portraits of the homeless. An abridged rearranged version of the poem will appear alongside O’Brien’s photographs in the upcoming book Hard Ground.

Due to overwhelming demand, Tom Waits is releasing a limited second edition chap book of “Seeds on Hard Ground” exclusively through his website in collaboration with ANTI Record to raise funds for homeless services in his region and to bring attention to a growing problem in today’s hard times. The second edition will also be limited to 1000 copies each in North America and Europe but the color of the cover will be different.

Both Waits and ANTI Records are donating all proceeds of the poem to Redwood Empire Food Bank, Sonoma County’s Homeless Referral Services and Family Support Center operated by Catholic Charities.
