Vintage And Rare Gibson Guitars Are Bucking The Economic Trend And Proving To Be A Sound Investment

When was the last time you dusted off the boxes in the attic, sorted through the items in your closet or took a good look through your loft and stumbled upon a guitar case in the corner? Well back in 2007 an American gentleman did exactly that. When he opened up the guitar case he saw something very special inside, it was a highly prized 1959 Gibson Les Paul Standard in pristine condition. The Les Paul was valued by a reputable company and was told he could expect to sell it for a six figure sum.

Gibson Guitar is well known and highly regarded worldwide by guitar aficionados and guitarists from all musical genres for consistently producing the finest electric and acoustic guitars. Gibson has a unique history steeped in tradition, innovation and quality craftsmanship. On any given stage at any given gig around the world over the decades, chances are you would have seen the guitarist rocking out on his Gibson guitar.

Joseph Patrick Moore’s To Africa With Love W/SPG Funky Blues Man Charlie Wood Available from Blue Canoe Records

Composer, producer and performer Joseph Patrick Moore weaves tribal rhythms into funk, pop and jazz melodies on his eighth solo release, “To Africa With Love”. Mr. Moore connects with some old friends and new ones in this dedication to the Land of the Sahara. The work itself contains 13 songs that range in genre from Contemporary Jazz to Funk to Rock to Contemporary.

Moore and company utilize funky blues man Charlie Wood to spark a contemporary version of the Meters classic “Fire on the Bayou” that requires the listener to get out of their seat and move. The opening track wastes no time showing off Mr. Moore’s unmatched talent on the bass as the opening bass riff socks the listener between the eyes. It’s off to the races as the blistering take on the Meters’ standard blends rock and urban rhythms while never losing touch with that classic southern funky feel.

Jeff Berlin The Jazz Legend Who Was Asked To Join Van Halen (And Said No) Releases New CD

Clearwater, FL – Jeff Berlin is a legend of the electric bass, considered by many to be the finest electric bass player in the world. A true master of the bass, Jeff Berlin has played with the likes of Bill Bruford, George Benson, Allan Holdsworth, and even toured with original members of Yes (Anderson, Wakeman, Bruford, Howe) on only three days’ notice. Much to the anticipation of his fans, Jeff is releasing a new jazz trio CD on his own MAJ Records label titled ‘High Standards’. Along with Berlin on electric bass, the CD also features Woody Herman alumni Richard Drexler on piano and upright bass, and famed drummer Danny Gottlieb (best known for his work with Pat Metheny). “It is a standard jazz piano trio led by a former rock bass player playing jazz tunes, and soloing nothing like bass players usually solo,” says Jeff. “Keith Jarrett is huge influence on me. I transcribed his solos and practiced them on bass. I wanted to try my hand at recording tunes that I have played for many years, which inspired me to record three guys in a room and let the session remain as they eventually turned out.”

They Died Before 40 – New Jazz Film To Make History

Many people may have heard of Charlie Parker, who died at 34. Some may have heard of Bix Beiderbecke who died at 28. But how many people have heard of Herschel Evans, who died before reaching 30? There is very little known about him and more than two dozen other great jazz artists. Their stories should be told. For example, Jo Jones, drummer and an integral part of the Count Basie band for many years, has called Evans the greatest musician he ever played with. He said that Evans made everyone he played with better.
